For many, the desire to lose weight produces a yo-yo effect. One where
the pounds may begin to drop off, and an "ideal weight" is
reached, but within a fairly short amount of time, the weight begins
to return and in some cases, exceeds the pre dieting weight.
Most often this occurs
when we view weight loss as the primary goal. In reality, the primary
goal should be creating a healthier lifestyle in which nutrition and
exercise play a central role.
The importance of
exercise as part of a healthy lifestyle cannot be underestimated. Not
only does it burn calories by speeding your metabolic rate, it is a
wonderful way to reduce stress and create lean muscle mass.
